Nicaragua Diving - Scuba Dive Nicaragua's Pacific and Caribbean Coast
Nicaragua is an untouched diver's paradise. There is very little organized dive activity in Nicaragua at the moment but it will nto stay this way for long. Due to the location and make up of the country there is excellent diving on both the Atlantic / Caribbean coast and along Nicaragua's Pacific coast. There are dive operators, dive instruction and dive travel accomodations available for scuba divers.
Dive the Corn Islands - Big Corn and Little Corn Island Scuba Diving
On the Caribbean or Atlantic side of Nicaragua are the remote white sand islands of Big Corn and Little Corn. There are established scuba diving and snorkeling operators at both locations. You can fly or take a boat to Big Corn Island but the only way to get the Little Corn Island is via a charter boat, generally launching from Big Corn Island. The diving on both islands is spectacular but hardcore divers like the experience on Little Corn because of it's remote nature there is rarely any else there. There are hotels and dve operators at both islands and you are better off to plan in advance and the operations are small in scale.
Scuba Dive Nicaragua's Pacific Coast - Diving in San Juan del Sur
There is excellent diving on Nicaragua's southern Pacific coast as well. This is Pacific water diving so the water is generally cooler than the Caribbean side and there are different sorts of reefs and animal life. The base of operatiosn is San Juan del Sur and there are a few dive operators based there for your needs. Visibility can change quickly but for the most part there is a lot to see and since the area has seen few divers there are always surprises. Dive operators know of wrecks, cave formations, excellent spear fishing locations and much more. Snorkeling is also a possibility but you are better off finding a location via boat, not from the shore. Currents are strong in certain areas of the Pacific coast, it is advised to go out with an experienced Dive Master in this region.
